Dining at the Inn
The delectable food at the Captain’s House Inn is an all-encompassing experience. Our kitchen staff is dedicated to providing you with creative breakfasts, healthy alternatives, and an ever-changing array of irresistible treats. We are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions or allergies.
We pride ourselves on our diverse breakfast selection offered between the hours of 8 and 10 am (Earlier breakfasts can be arranged with prior notice to the kitchen staff). Our two course breakfast consists of a fruit starter and choice of our sweet or savory entree all of which changes daily. If you prefer, more basic fare such as eggs and toast, oatmeal, and cream of wheat is always available. In addition, help yourself to our extensive buffet which includes smoked salmon, bagels, ham and cheese croissants, homemade granola, coffee cake or muffins, yogurt, cereals, hard boiled eggs, fruit, and a selection of artisan breads for toasting. Breakfast is included in all room rates.
Between the hours of 3 and 5 pm, we serve a complimentary cream tea with scones and sweets for our guests. Tea is especially enjoyable upon arrival after a long drive, or as a quiet interlude from an active day. Guests may also choose to upgrade to our high tea for an additional $9.00/person. High tea is available to outside guests for $20.00/person. Upgrade to a champagne tea for an additional $7.00/person. Reservations are required if you choose to upgrade from a cream tea. Poolside or Fireside Lunches
For those who would like to take advantage of this convenient lunch option, just pick up the phone in your room or the Exercise Room next to the pool and place your order. We offer a selection of sandwiches, salads, and beverages so you can remain in your bed or lounge chair. Lunch charge is $12.00/person and can be billed to your room.
Each evening, between the hours of 6:30 and 10:30 pm, we offer a complimentary snack set up in the kitchen. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are available; treats vary each evening. Trays are available so you can retire to your room, or hang out in the kitchen or the library and meet other guests. Complimentary port and sherry are available in the library.
The kitchen is happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions or allergies. We strive to provide a comprehensive dining experience to vegetarians, vegans, those with gluten allergies, and any other guests who require a special diet.
Join us for a traditional high tea in our bright and airy dining room, where tea is presented on three tiers and served with your choice of our artisan loose teas in your own teapot. Our Executive Chef designs seasonal tea menus featuring locally sourced ingredients when possible. Private parties are also available for groups of more than six and are hosted from noon to 2:30 pm. High tea is served daily with seatings from 3:00 – 4:30 pm for parties of six or less; reservations are required and 24-48 hour advance reservations are preferred.
